Calvin Ogata, the leader of the team, explains:

KawaguchiMunicipal High School  has taken steps to prepare students to become the futureglobal leaders of Japan.  Often you hear the word Globalization, which implies the opening of local and nationalistic perspectives to aninterconnected and interdependent world. English is a predominant language and it has become a necessity forpeople to speak English, since it is the most widely spoken language on theplanet.

At Kawaguchi Municipal High School, wechallenge the status quo by delivering active innovative lessons taught by our“Coordinators for InternationalRelations”, in the highly communicative “Active Learning for Global Leaders Program”.  The school also offers a special EnglishSummer Camp, where students can level up their English in various areas such asEiken, Daily Situational Conversation and their Presentation Skills.  Currently there are six native Englishspeakers at the school, so students have many opportunities to speak with themthroughout the day. Students always have a chance every day to sit, talk andeat lunch together with the teachers during the “Ekomai Corner” duringlunchtime.

We hope the students will enjoy acquiringthese important English skills, as they will need them to become the nextleaders of Japan.
