本校の英語ネイティブスピーカーであるCIR７名とともに、本校生６５名が、すべて英語の３日間を過ごします。小ホールでオープニングセレモニーを行った後、グループごとに各教室に分かれ、早速、楽しく英語の活動が始まりました。
本来は５日間で行うキャンプですが、コロナ禍の影響で３日間に短縮されましたが、内容は様々な活動で構成され、大変充実したものとなっています。

　　

本校の昼食時間は、本来、E Komo Mai（ハワイ語で「いらっしゃい」）という名のCIRと本校生徒の楽しい自由な英会話の語らいの時間が用意されています。残念ながら、新型コロナウィルス感染防止の観点から、現在は食堂での英会話はできなくなりましたが、CIRの部屋には、楽しい会話をしようと訪れてくれる生徒が来ています。そんな何気ない昼休みの様子をお届けします。右の写真は、CIRの新しいメンバーであるDamianです。

　  

今年度も、本校CIRによるEnglish Summer Camp 夏季英語集中講座が下記のとおり開催されます。コロナ禍による夏季休業の短縮等の事情により、日程は３日間と短縮されますが、「英語漬け」の濃密な時間を経験できることは、これからの英語学習のみならず、世界への目を開き、国際社会での活躍にもつながる大きな可能性の機会です。多くの生徒の参加を期待しています。

コロナ禍による新学期の始まりの困難さも落ち着き、CIRによる「コミュニケーション英語Ⅰ・Ⅱ」の授業が１年生、２年生の各クラスで順調に行われています。各クラスは半分の２０名ずつに分かれ、Active Learning for Global Leaders Program に基づいて、ペアワーク、グループワーク等も交え、多彩な言語活動が展開されています。
１学期のプログラムの概要は以下のとおりです。
【１年】
　・Lesson１　良いプレゼンテーション、悪いプレゼンテーション
　・Lesson 2　ある品物をグループでプレゼンテーションする
　・Lesson 3   相手に職業のアドバイスをする
　・Lesson 4　自分のことについて一人ひとりプレゼンテーションする
    ・Lesson 5    パフォーマンステスト

Hello to all our students.  And a special welcome to our new G1 students. 

My name is Calvin Ogata and I am the Head CIR at the school.  CIR stands for Coordinator for International Relations. Actually, there are another 6 more CIR native English-speaking teachers at the school.  And we are a real global group of teachers as we represent various English-speaking countries.  Most of our teachers come from America, but we have a teacher from England, New Zealand and even Ukraine.  We have been really looking forward to meeting you in class, but for now we will just have to wait a little longer.  Our biggest hope is that you will be able to enjoy our lessons and that you learn to build confidence in speaking English.  Please don’t ever worry about making a mistake or saying something strange.  Speaking out is the best way to learn how to communicate in English.  And just think,you actually have 7 Native English teachers looking forward to talking to you every day. 

I will tell you a little about what we are doing right now.  We are preparing your Active Learning for Global Leaders Curriculum. For the Grade 1 students, we are hoping you will learn good presentation skills so you can speak out confidently in English during the first part of the school year.  For Grade 2 students, now that you have learned to speak out confidently, we are hoping you can learn how to form an opinion and back it up with good reasons and examples.  This will be great when you start to debate in our classes.  As this program is named, Active Learning for Global Leaders, we are hoping that our students will one day become leaders in anything they decide to do in their future. 

We hope you and your family will take care during this difficult time that is affecting the entire world.  Of course, we are eagerly waiting to see everyone of you in person in the very near future.
